Drambuie wished to develop the « Jacobite Collection » a limited edition comprising a luxurious crystal decanter and tasting glass . This edition is directly inspired by traditional 18th century collections. Every element of the gift box has been carefully chosen to evoke the « spirit of ‘45 » and to produce a unique and harmonious presentation.
The « Jacobite » tasting glass is a replica of the « Amen » glasses produced in Scotland between 1743 and 1749. The finely engaved texts and decoration express the legitimate claim to the English throne by the Stuarts. The Amen glasses were produced in small quantities and belonged to the loyal supporters of the Jacobite cause. Being found in possession of such a glass made its owner liable to the death penalty.
The form of the decanter is typical of the mid 18th century. Carefully crafted in crystal the Jacobite decanter is faithful to the original production. The elegant teardrop shape and long neck are typical of the decanters to be found on Bonny Prince Charlie’s dining table.
The simplicity of the shapes are perfectly partnered by the contemporary 21st century decor of the luxurious, solid wooden box lined with cream coloured leather.
